Although open since 1988 only, San Lorenzo has built up an enviable reputation as a course you must play if you are in the Algarve. Exclusivity obviously plays a part, but the sheer magnificence of San Lorenzo and its rating among the top three courses in Europe prove that attention to detail and meticulous maintenance make it the show-piece of the region.
British comedian Jimmy Tarbuck has regularly held his Golf Classic here, bringing sports personalities and show business celebrities from the United Kingdom, such as Henry Cooper, Jasper Carrott, Tim Brooke-Taylor, plus many more who have all returned year after year. For several years, the British Daily Telegraph Junior Golf Championship finals were held on the San Lorenzo course. Both Tony Jacklin and Mickey Walker have accompanied the finalists here.

After the typical Algarve terrain of the first four holes, wonderful views over the Atlantic emerge on the fifth green. The green at the eighth is a perilous conclusion to a tough hole but whatever happens here, there is no option other than to be courageous at the remarkable, well defended final hole.

This stunning eighteen hole course encomp-asses beautiful pine trees, lakes and beaches right beside the ocean front.
Designed by Joseph Lee of the USA, this course will give any player some of the most challenging yet pleasurable rounds of golf. A round on this course begins with an enticing but almost unreachable par 5 before continuing to holes 2, 3 and 4 over the rolling, pine-fringed fairways. It is from hole number 5, however, that you will find some of the most stunning views over the sea and if you time it just right you will encounter one of the most incredible sights of the the sun setting over the ocean. At hole number 8 the course turns back inland, and faces the largest of the lakes with lush greenery surrounding. For the next four holes the course turns again seawards, and ends with a par 4 hole, whose green is surrounded by the waters of the second lake.
